If a song is released as a single and then the whole album comes out at a later date, I am always obligated to delete the single and download the version from the album or else I’m stuck with the same song twice on my library. Not only that, I then have to update my playlists as well by deleting the single version and then adding the version of the song with the album cover. Is there seriously still not a version of the software where the song is automatically switched to the version of the album once it’s released? As an avid music listener, its annoying having to do this manually, to the point where i’m considering switching music streaming service…

Hi rosemarie_m,

It's important to note that content producers are responsible for how, when and in what combination their music is released or offered for sale or streaming. If a song is released early as a single, it may be categorized into an album with only that track, which will not be the same album that is later released which contains the all of the designated songs.

In the scenario you described, you have the option when adding the album to remove the individual track that you already have in your Library. As the functions outlined appear to be operating by design, you may also choose to submit feedback on your experience via Product Feedback - Apple.

Regards.
