Hi Dmstcr1940,
Please check out the information in the following link to ensure the correct process is being used to set up your AirTag, so we can make sure there's no issue there: Set up your AirTag using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Set up your AirTag
1. Make sure that your device is ready for setup.
2. If your AirTag is new, remove the wrap around the product and pull out the tab to activate the battery. Your AirTag will play a sound.
3. Hold your AirTag near your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then tap Connect.* If you have multiple AirTags and see "More than one AirTag detected", make sure that only one AirTag is near your device at one time. Need help connecting your AirTag?
4. Select an item name from the list, or select Custom Name to name your AirTag and choose an emoji. Then tap Continue.
5. To register your AirTag with your Apple ID, tap Continue again.
6. Tap Done.
Now you can attach your AirTag to your item and see it in the Find My app.
* You can also set up your AirTag in the Find My app. Tap the Items tab, then tap Add Item.
If your AirTag doesn't appear in Find My, please review the suggestions outlined in this page, which may be helpful: Find your keys, backpack, and more with AirTag
If you don't see your AirTag in Find My
1. Remove and then reinsert the battery of your AirTag.
2. If your AirTag doesn't play a sound after you reinsert the battery, replace the battery with a new CR2032 battery.
1. Your AirTag must be within Bluetooth range to use Find Nearby or play a sound using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If it's out of range, get directions to it first. Find Nearby uses Ultra Wideband, which is not available in all countries or regions. Learn more about Ultra Wideband availability.
2. Warning: AirTag, the battery cover, and the battery might present a choking hazard or cause other injury to small children. Keep these items away from small children.
The Find My network isn't supported in South Korea and might be unavailable in other regions due to local laws.
Thanks!
