can't create new ilcoud mail account

Hello


my wife uses her icloud account for a few years but without an icloud mail address. now we want to create one but we stuck at the configurations.


We tried to create a new account at "preferences --> Apple-ID --> iCloud --> iCloud-Mail"

We enable the toggle and the dialog to create a new account appears



but after this we stuck at


there no dialogue to create a mail address


She is part of our "Family" account with a iCloud+ subscription.

She has a iPhone X with 16.4.1, an we already rebooted the device but without any changes in the dialoges. We also tried the procedure in out wlan or 4G network


Does anyone have a suggesstion how to get this to work?

I excactly tried the documentation you provides without any success, I alway stuck at the shown screens.


At the end my solution was really simple...i used one of our old devices (iPhone 6s with iOS 15.x.x ) and the process stared without any problems like it is descriped by apple. We also can use our custom domain to create new Mail addresses instead a @icloud.com address


My point of view is, there is an bug in iOS 16.4.1 with family accounts to create new mail addresses.


But for me this issue is solved!

Is it possible that an email address was already created and was simply never used? This is mentioned as one of the reasons you may have an issue with this process. This is covered in article Create a primary email address for iCloud Mail - Apple Support.


If you already have an @icloud.com (or an @me.com or @mac.com) email address, see Set up iCloud Mail on all your devices.


If you haven't done so yet, try the steps provided in the article above to "Set up iCloud Mail on all your devices."

Do your part: Let Apple know what is going on here. Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that it is after installing an update, and on how you have troubleshot it, thus far. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary
