How to schedule text messages on iPhone

We can schedule text messages and more on iPhone. I did on iOS 16.4.1

Please follow the following steps

  1. Go to shortcuts app
  2. Select Automation window
  3. Create personal automation
  4. Time of the day
  5. Choose the event type(daily, weekly, monthly)
  6. Click next
  7. Select action send message (do check out their various convenient actions by clicking “+” and section “all actions”)
  8. Click on “message” to input message
  9. Click on “recipients” to select receiver of the message
  10. Click next and disable “Ask before sending
  11. Click done.
  12. This automation will have to be manually deleted in order to end its occurrences.

Hope y’all find it helpful! ✌🏽

This is insanely complicated compared to android. I just switched and I like iPhone but I don’t understand what Apple is thinking here. Anyone know if this feature is in the pipeline? I used to schedule texts on android but this shortcut seems circa 1990.

Just to let everyone know if you use this “scheduling” feature by following the directions DO NOT select run immediately. Because it will literally send the text immediately regardless of the scheduled time selected. I should have realized the literal meaning of immediate, however I did just confirm that I wanted the text to be sent out at the specified TIME. The other choice in this step was run after confirmation. Which I didn’t want or need. So I assumed the message would be sent immediately AT THE SCHEDULED TIME WITHOUT CONFIRMATION.

Hello alangeer.

I do not mean to be rude in any way by saying this, but, the Apple Support Community is not a place to "vent." It's a place to find answers, be answered, and do what it says in the name: Support. In all seriousness, you probably should have done what IdrisSeabright said:

It's a good idea to read the Terms of Use before agreeing to them.

And by the way, to give you an answer to what you said:

I do find it interesting; Tips can only be given 'by people at high levels'? You are 'technically forbidden' to do so?

Apple has reasons for this. They don't want people who just joined, like me, to be giving tips when Apple is not sure if they are 100% reliable. You get to higher levels by earning trust, so it seems fair that you should be trusted by the community to give tips. I am not criticizing this tip. I do find it helpful that users like Muhurt (the author) care about people who need help. Apple just wants to make sure this community stays as it is, a place to get help from fellow Apple users around the world. Please understand. None of us on here mean to offend anyone. We want to help, and Apple does too. They have a place to report issues (Official Apple Support) and a place to give feedback on their products (Product Feedback). Please, if you want to talk to Apple, tell them what you feel needs to be improved through their Product Feedback page.

I'll calm down now as you request - and stop up voting and down voting as you also request.

Thank you for calming down. I never said that you should stop voting and down voting, though. I just said that you should vote up the ones that you feel can get the most help to others instead of ones that you may agree with.

Thank you for reading this, and a special thanks to IdrisSeabright, Kurtosis12, and others who were doing their best to get people the answers they need!

This process is overly complex, time consuming and honestly inconvenient. I’ve only ever had Apple products and I love iMessage but this should be a feature embedded right in the iMessage app. You mean to tell me I can send messages with features like fireworks and invisible ink but I can’t press and hold to schedule a text message? Big fail.
