Esim activation on unlocked phone
How to activate esim on new unlocked phone on AT&T network? Does the phone become locked to AT&T? Phone is not purchased from AT&T.

Where, exactly, did you buy the phone?
If you bought an unlocked phone directly from Apple, contact AT&T for instructions on how to activate the eSIM in the phone. It will not lock to AT&T.
If you bought it from a retailer such as Best Buy, Target, etc. You did not purchase an unlocked phone. You purchased a phone that will lock to the first US carrier you use to activate the device.
