TextEdit indent paragraph

In TextEdit, is there a way to make a keyboard shortcut for indenting/outdenting a paragraph?

The workaround is ctrl+cmd+c & v to copy and paste a previous ruler that is indented but it requires a) making said ruler and b) having that ruler in the clipboard.

I figured a way to create a shortcut for Indent.

  1. Use the ruler to make an indented paragraph.
  2. Go to Format/Font/Styles...
  3. Ensure that the indented paragraph is in focus and 'Add to Favourites' with your desired name. I called mine 'Indent'. Click Apply then Done.
  4. Open System Settings.../Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts/App Shortcuts
  5. Create a new shortcut. Menu title is the name of the Favourite created in step 3. Choose a desired keyboard shortcut. I used shift+cmd+D since cmd+D is used for my standard paragraph that's fully outdented.
