Apple Maps entering Degree symbol, Compass DD format

A friend used the Compass app to find that their location was 33°38'58" N 117°54'2" W

I wanted to then find them but when I used Apple Maps, it required me to use the DD (decimal degress) format as I could not type the degree symbol ° in Apple Maps.

The Compass app uses DMS (Degrees Minutes Seconds) while the Maps app requires DD (decimal degrees).

How do I work with these 2 apps to communicate with others?

Looks like DMS coords can be manually entered fairly easily as numbers w/ spaces between them.

Your example could be easily manually entered as:

33 38 58 -117 54 02

(“Negative” being used for “South” lattitude and “West” Longitude)

Yes, someone can copy and paste the DMS format, but if they are reading it on a flyer or such, there is no ability to enter it into the maps apps. A user would have to know how to type it in another app, then copy and paste into a maps app.

Can the Compass and the Maps apps use a common format? It is not possible to even copy from the Compass and paste into Maps!
