I can not sign back on IMessages. It says unable to contact server try again. I have tried now for two days. How do I sign back in.

I am having trouble signing back into iMessages. I never signed out. But when I try to put my Apple ID in, it will not let me type in the Id information. In the off chance it goes thru it tell me unable to contact server to try later. I have trying to sign on for 2 days. Help!

If you are experiencing difficulties, try a forced-restart of of your iPad - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:


Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.




Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.



A restart of your WiFi Router may also be helpful.


To restart you home router, disconnect power - then wait at least 30 seconds before restarting. When you router has rebooted (which may take several minutes), force-restart your iPad as described above.
