Invitation pending, re-adding user doesn’t trigger invite notification

I saw the other discussions from up to end of last year and am hoping to find another solution than deleting the HomeKit configuration completely. I have 2 homes and don’t want to setup both from scratch.

So I sent an invite to my child. Since her iPad was in downtime mode, I saw the message on the Home Screen saying you can’t accept the invite because your iPad is in downtime or so. I couldn’t accept the invite though. Deactivated downtime but I had no chance to go back and accept the invite. So I removed her and added her again, however, no notification is shown on her iPad. Powered off all guns, waited and powered back on but no change. I don’t understand why there’s no link or such that could be used. 😕

"Invite someone to control your home

If Home has been upgraded to the new Home architecture, you must set up a home hub to share control of your home.

To invite someone to control your home, follow these steps:

Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Tap or click the More button , then select Home Settings. If you have multiple homes set up, choose the Home that you want to invite someone to, then select Home Settings.
Tap or click Invite People.
Enter the person's Apple ID that they use with iCloud.
Tap or click Send Invite.

Find out what to do if you can't invite someone to control your home."
