I use iTunes to back up my iPhone to my Windows Outlook program. It's always had the occasional glitch but recently I get this error each time I try to back up the phone to the PC. Once in a while I get the same message when backing up to iCloud. I have an iPhone SE and use Windows 11 Home.
There's 723 GB free space on the PC and 2.39 GB available on the iPhone. The error message is singularly unhelpful as it doesn't specify the error.
What iTunes version iOS on the PC? What iOS version tis on the iPhone? Sometimes you will get this error if an older version of iTunes cannot read a newer version of iOS on the iPhone. It probably has very little to do with the amount of free storage on the PC or iPhone. Perhaps these articles will help:

My iPhone has iOS 16.4.1 and my iTunes is version 12.12.8.2. As far as I can tell, there are no current updates for iTunes and that is the highest version available. If that's the issue, when will iTunes be updated? If it will not be updated in the near future, and the problem persists how will I backup my iPhone to my computer?
