I did manage it once but now the option is greyed out if I select all clips in the timeline and choose FIle>New> Multicam Clip

1) You select the clips in the BROWSER, not the "project browser".

2) Control-click and choose New Multicam Clip

3) To make adjustments to the multicam clip, you can double-click it to open the "Angle Editor", where you can see all the angles. The one marked with a grey border is the "monitoring angle".

If you need to add more content directly to the Angle Editor, after the multicam has been created, you can add more angles, add content to them and use the "Sync to Monitoring Angle" to make sure that they get synced.

I suggest you take some time to learn more about this. Here is a great explanation by Jenn Jager:

What happens when you try to make the multicam? How exactly is it failing? Any errors?

Or is it creating a multicam but the clips are not synced?

Did you add appropriate values for "camera angle" or "camera name" so FCP knows where each clip belongs?

If you need to manually sync, you should still do it inside a multicam, in the Angle Editor.

Select one clip in the browser, choose New Multicam Clip; double click the multicam, add new angles as needed, and drag the other clips in place.

Then you will have a real multicam clip, and can use it in a project timeline as normal.

Hi I tired again.I selected all the clips that were manually timeline and then File>New >Multicam .

Option wasn't greyed out and it successfully created a Multicam Clip .When I dragged the Multicam clip into the timeline and double-clicked on it ,the Multicam clip only had 1 short clip in it .It removed all the other clips and also the master audio track .

So I deleted that Multicam clip and when I tried the same method again..the Multicam clip option is greyed out PFA

Hi Luis..thank you for your help.

I have one more query and I can't find the answer anywhere.I searched everywhere!

I have these video files about 12 gigs each with file name for eg. C0001.mp4 and each file contains 7-8 different song clips recorded from a pro camera .Instead of renaming that file with all the song names (It will become a very large string) or cutting and exporting each song individually and exporting (time consuming) is there a way to add meta/tags keywords so that when I want a particular song , I Just search for it in the whole library and it displays all the songs from different events? This way I add can add multiple clips from different events and make a Multicam edit.

I hope I am framing the question correctly?

I tried adding finder tags and then importing but it just creates a keyword collection

I just started using smart collections after working on FCP for 2 years😅..guess I learn something new everyday. I have like 2 TB of footage form different concerts and I want to organise them properly so that I can make videos for YouTube/insta/social media..Right now import to library is set as default. The toughest part is media management .

Would you recommend best practises. When I need any footage ..it's like looking for. needle in a haystack!😅

I strongly second Tom's suggestion to learn about media management, and the Ripple Training tutorials.

These guys not only know this stuff but are also brilliant teachers.

A word of caution: if you have 2TB of material that you want to import, do NOT copy to library.

Having a huge library is a formula for disaster waiting to happen.

You should organize your media and import using "leave in place" if possible. Or if not, assign a media location outside the library and import that way.
