Apple ID security issue...

When signing in to Apple ID to acces this forum on my own laptop, I'm met with the warning that 'someone' ios trrying to use my Apple ID, depsite it being the smae device!

Once I hit 'Allow' I'm then given a 6 digit code to input... again on the same device I'm signing in on!

What's going on? Pretty pointless excercise if my laptop qwas in the wrong hands!

Why Am I constantly asked to unlock my Apple ID Every few days I see a popup window that says: "Unlock Apple ID A password reset request was sent from a device at the location shown below." However, there is nothing "shown below", nor do I have a clue why my Apple ID is apparently "Locked". So I have to go through the various steps to unlock it, then sign in. And even though the first time I signed in, I got the "Your Apple ID is being used to sign in to a new device" window. Fine, but then why does this same window pop up a couple hours later, on the same computer, with the same browser, when I am about to sign in again? I'm not a new device, nor new version of my browser, etc. So what's going on? Why do I keep having to jump through all these hoops, just to sign in to the Apple site, or my iCloud??? Why does my Apple ID keep on being locked? [Edited by Moderator]

Hmm..., likely a foible of Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

I am less familiar with its use on computers but it should require a second device. I am wonder if something about the configuration of your device (do you have multiple user accounts using the same ID?) is confusing it.
