Messenger Facebook Links Wont Open 16.4.1 (iPad only)

With the latest update to 16.4.1, neither of my iPads (mini or air) will open Facebook links shared with me in messenger. I understand the OS has been changed to open within the associated apps and not the browser. Thats fine however, shared Facebook links from messenger wont open in Facebook either. The Facebook app opens to the home page and that's it. Nothing else happens.

I reinstalled both the Facebook and Messenger apps multiple times with no luck. I'm not experiencing this issue on my iPhone or desktop. Only on iPads.

Any feedback appreciated.

Everyone, I found a fix! I know it’s only 2023 so this stuff is pretty complicated for developers. However, here’s what I did (can’t believe I figured this out):

Close Facebook app on iPad
Set iPad on table
Walk away

Haven’t experienced the glitch yet!

I’m unable to open those forwarded to my self as well, it returns to the Facebook page, the same as the others.

Unless and until Facebook fixes this problem, which they are obviously not in a rush to do, I am using a browser to access Messenger.

Yes, I’ve tried that too. It doesn’t work. I keep updating the Facebook app but it’s still not fixed

Just updated FB and Messenger, and now link in messenger open in FB again on my iPad

iPadOs 17.0.3 !

I pray for this will last ! 🥵

I just tried too and it works! I have iPad OS 16.6.1 so it makes me think it’s a messenger update that has fixed it.

Yes!! I updated messenger and Facebook and the problem has been fixed!!

So did I! It works👍🏼 Now if I could only delete my audio and video calls on messenger😊 I press the button, however, the menu doesn’t populate with the option to delete.

Yes it’s definitely the messenger update because just updating to 17.1 didn’t fix the problem but after the messenger update it was fixed

I had the very same problem. I updated my iPad to iOS 17.1 and it works perfectly now 😊

i have v17 on both iPad and iPhone. Still have the issue.
