Bootcamp install

Hi,

Im using a Mid 2011 iMac and want to install windows 7 and it works well up to a point I'm able to create a bootable USB and partition the drive but when it restarts it says install bootable disk but i don't have a disk as I'm trying to use only the USB and it should work but i can't even find it in the boot options if anyone knows a solution it would be really helpful.

All Macs that have built-in Optical (CD/DVD) drives must use CD/DVD media to install Microsoft Windows. USB drives (flash or external CD/DVD drives) are not supported.

If you do not have a functional Optical drive, you will run into many issues.

It may be better to consider a Windows VM as an option, if there are Optical drive issues. This method will need older versions of VMware Fusion/Parallels/VirtualBox due to the age of your Mac.
