Download song from Apple ITunes Store

Why can't I Preview & download a song from iTunes Store? It keeps requiring me to subscribe to Apple Music with Free Trial then so much $ per month which I do not want to do. I used to be able to preview a song, then download it if I wanted; now I can't do it without doing the Free Trial/Subscription! Thanks Lud14
