No VO2Max when mowing with a walk behind mower.

When I go on a brisk walk and using the outdoor walk setting, the app will record my VO2max. However, when I am mowing with a walk behind mower almost jogging behind it, going up and down hills, the outdoor walk setting will never register a vo2max even though I am in zone 4 heart rate. I barely get out of zone 2 heart rate with I am walking and getting a VO2Max.

HUH. what I am doing wrong?

This maybe it or the vibration. I put it on my ankle and it did collect VO2Max.. Now just have to get something to insulate the handles from from my hands. The reason I go through this is I can only get up to 120bpm while walking down the road but I can easily do 135 or 140 for 10 to 15 minutes while mowing. I can get a high bpm on the treadmill and elliptical machines, but those are indoors thus no vo2max..

I agree, but pushing the mower up and across the mountain where I live is tiresome.. BTW.. 75year old with heart problem and 2 blown disks in lower back.. It is those **** disks that make me hurt so bad that I do slow down a lot.

I can gert a better workout from the mowing though than from the elliptical or treadmill at the gym. I do manage to get into my vo2max range for quite a while sometimes.

I will try different things when it drys up enough to mow. I just do not think I am getting an accurate reading walking down my road and avoiding the cars, trucks and dogs along the way.

I understand! I am only 3 years younger than you but I walk at 16 minutes per mile for 3 miles (48 minutes) 3 or 4 ties a week to get some VO2 max readings.

I would probably forget about VO2, I don't even know what it means exactly, and just concentrate on the Kcalories and try to close your 3 rings several times per week. You can reduce the red ring target KCal from the standard 500 and the green ring minutes to a lesser if you want.

The reason I am trying to get a good VO2Max is my childhood asthma is coming back, I thought I had outgrown it, but the respiratory doc says that you don't outgrow it and indeed their test said I was still having it. So I wanted a method to get an idea of where I was every so often.

I am down to either vibration on the hand causing screwing with the watchOS, or RFI from the engine. It used to be that I could not wear bluetooth earphones when pushing the mower but I have not had that problem in quite a while. Research will continue, a 75 year old man with asthma and Aspergers has to have a challenge.
