Apple Watch SE Crown fell off

My SE Crown fell off a few months ago. I was sitting on the couch watching TV and looked down and it was on the floor. I sent it in by dropping it off at the UPS store, and apparently it arrived without the crown button. They deemed it accidental damage and despite my best efforts to argue my case, they sent it back unrepaired. The quoted price was $219 to fix it.

Now the battery drains on my watch and after sending it in, they're quoting me again to fix the crown ($219). I've spoken to 2 different senior advisors on this. One said he would fight to get the repair covered and call me back yesterday. Never called. The other flatly told me there was nothing they could do. The watch is now 10 months old and is supposedly still covered under warranty. Has anyone else encountered this type of issue and been able to get it successfully resolved. Please don't tell me about Apple Care. I shouldn't have to purchase additional coverage to use the warranty that Apple supposedly provides.
