ERROR 8072 AND I CANT CREATE FOLDER ON DESKTOP

Hello to everyone. I have a MacBook Air 2020 and I recently notice that I can't create folders on my desktop. It is not permitted and the error code is 8072. Additionally, when I go to finder menu on bottom left I can't open the desktop and the documents folder. The message informs me that I can't open these folders because it is impossible to find the initial element for those particular folders. Anybody knows what exactly is my fault? thank you

I found the soluction.

Open the user's folder "name.surname"

Hold down [option] + [shift] + [.] to make visible the unvisible files.

There will be visible (by transparent icons) all hidden files, included 2 "alias" files named "Desktop" and "Documents".

Move this files on the trash and eliminate it definitely, than create 2 new folders named "Desktop" and "Documents".

The problem will be solved.

Can you Right-Click on any area of your Desktop that is not a file or folder and choose Get Info?

Is it possible you have the Desktop and Documents folder saved on the iCloud Drive? Check the setting at  > System Settings > (name on top) > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Desktop & Documents Folder? There is nothing wrong with having that turned on, but the location may be in your iCloud Drive instead.

The error code 8072 typically indicates a problem with moving or deleting files on macOS. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. Restart your MacBook Air: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary software glitches.

2. Repair Disk Permissions: macOS has a built-in Disk Utility tool that can repair disk permissions.

3. Reset the Finder preferences: Sometimes, the Finder preferences can become corrupted and cause issues.

4. Check for macOS updates: Make sure your MacBook Air is running the latest version of macOS. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements that can resolve issues.

If none of the above steps resolve the problem, you may need to consider further troubleshooting or contacting Apple Support for assistance.

I should elaborate, the issue that is happening is that the desktop folder itself does not exist on my macbook.(I apologize for the weird image orientation, first time using this.)

so I’m not fully sure if this thing is fixable on my end, or I have to send it for repairs. Another thing to note:it does not allow me to drag & drop photos onto the desktop
