My iPad doesn’t charge
When I plug my iPad into a vehicle to charge, it just says it the top right corner “Not Charging”. It ONLY happens when it’s plugged into a vehicle. Is there a way to fix it?
iPad, iPadOS 16

There’s a very simple explanation…
Many vehicle USB outlets, in particular those connected to an infotainment system, can only output 5W (i.e., 1A @5V). Most models of iPad require at least 12W to reliably charge - and as such, may not reliably charge when connected to lower-power USB ports.

So it sounds like it isn't the iPad itself that is the problem, it may be the power supply from the vehicle. Will other mobile devices charge?
I get that a lot with marginal cables and/or when I connect via a hub that has to distribute power to multiple devices. Sometimes it will provide enough current to charge or not. I can't be too sure if it's providing power, although I suppose I could check with coconutBattery.
Typically I'll just unplug and try again. I have some cables I really like other than that, but I'm too cheap to replace.
