When I try to add someone in iMessage the number shows as red

I tried to add a new contact in iMessage on my Mac. She tells me she has an iPhone but when I put in the # it shows as red. Any solutions to this?

Just because your contact has an iPhone doesn't mean they are using iMessage. That sounds as if it might be the problem. If that's the case, you will as Dallen_Frutchey alluded to, need to set up Text Message Forwarding from your iPhone.
