Just got a new iPad and letting my grandson use the old one. If I delete apps on the old iPad will it remove them from the new iPad as well?

Just got a new iPad and letting my grandson use the old one. If I delete apps on the old iPad will it remove them from the new iPad as well? I want to get some of the apps off of the old one that he shouldn’t need and put some games on it for him.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 16

App installation is completely independent between devices. Installing or deleting Apps on one device will not impact other devices in any way.

However, if both devices are signed-in to iCloud and other Apple services with the same AppleID, with data synchronised between devices, your personal and sensitive data (including stored passwords) can be accessed across all devices that share the AppleID. Data deletion can be replicated between devices!

You would be best advised to use a different AppleID for the iPad that you make available to others - such as your grandson.

If you choose to do so, you can still selectively share purchase Apps, subscriptions and Apple services using Family Sharing:

No, but you should really consider using the steps in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad. Then you can set up the "old one" using the procedures outlined in Create an Apple ID for your child, which explains "Children under 13 can't create an Apple ID on their own. (This age varies by region.) But if you're the family organizer or a guardian, you can create an Apple ID for your child."
