There is no specific time line. Different machines operate differently and it's not all that unusual for a device to develop problems. That's one reason AppleCare+ is available to help mitigate costs after the one year warranty expires.

Unlinking gmail and iCloud:


A. Unlinking gmail from the Mail App:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Passwords & Accounts
  3. Tap: Gmail
  4. Tap: Delete Account


B. Unlinking iCloud from gmail App:

  1. Open: the Gmail app .
  2. Tap Menu (top-left)
  3. Tap: Settings .
  4. Tap: Account tab
  5. Tap: Gmailify
  6. Tap: Unlink
  7. Tap: Unlink
