FCPx, clips in timeline went black

I have FCPx 10.6.5. I have been using it for years. Suddenly many clips in the timelines have gone black. I tried relinking but it comes up with an error about incorrect duration, but its the right clip. The clips are still connected, the clip displays in the browser but not in the timeline. If I drag the clip into the same timeline it shows ok. The clips were originally imported in Color Final 1.3.6. I tried trashing preferences and updating, all the usual tricks, but no luck. iMac Retina 4k 21.5 2017. Pro video formats 2.1.2. Ventura 13.3.1 (a)

Thanks,

David

@DavidBrownFilms - Are the black clips multicam clips? I had this happen yesterday and what fixed it was double-clicking into the angle editor, changing the Monitoring Angle to another angle and then back to the original. After backing out of the angle editor into the project, the clip displayed properly again. M1 Mac Studio Ultra.

It also happened in an older version of FCP with HEVC GoPro media. Relaunching FCP would bring them back. This was on an Intel iMac.

A few more tests:

1) If you select All in the project, Copy, New Project, Paste - does the new project work?

2) If you select a clip in the timeline (*), press Shift-F to reveal in browser, then drag over and choose Replace, does this clip now work?

(*) if there are effects applied to this clip, first do Command-C to Copy, and then after doing Replace, do Command-Shift-V to Paste Attributes
