battery drain iphone 14 Pro faster than 13 pro max?

I recently replaced my iphone 13 pro MAX for an iphone 14 pro (not the max).

Based on readings, even though it’s not a « max », battery life should be longer.

I recall how i was amazed when i got the 13 pro max, seeing that after my work day battery level was still very high.

With the 14 pro, i barely go mid-day that battery level is barely at 50% and with vert low-usage.

I also read that it’s normal for a new phone, but for how long? (It’s been 2 weeks i made the switch).

As far as i know, all my settings are the same as my old phone. No unnecessary notifications, etc.

Wonder if many have noticed similar issues / concerns?

or any check i should do?

thank you

iPhone 14 Pro

No, I noticed the opposite: My iPhone 14 Pro has MUCH better battery life than any iPhone I have ever owned in the past. I charge overnight, every night, and the battery is still above 50% by the end of the day when I put it on to charge again.

There’s only 2 things that use significant energy: cellular voice and data, and apps. If you’ve got a strong signal the cellular will not be that significant, but a weak signal will drain the battery fast when on a cellular call or using cellular data (but not if you are using Wi-Fi calling). The rest of the energy use is by apps, so go to Settings/Battery and see which apps are using the most energy.

Indeed, cell signal is low at my office, and wifi does not reach my phone for most of the day. That’s a good point, i will observe when i am not at the office if behavior is different. (Although my conditions were the same with the 13 pro max).

I know the « max » is known for having (larger?) battery. But as you also confirm my readings that just a « 14 pro » would offer longer battery life then a « 13 pro max », that has to be something else.

Actually (and normal in Mexico) my largest use in % is Whatsapp (20%), so there is no very demanding app in the top 5…. Google search, stuff like this, no video play on a typical workday, 1-2 Whatsapp calls (yes video) but usually short…. And standard calls are a rare beast 😉

Thanks Lawrence,

I started my day today (unplugged from magsafe) at 7:30, and at 8:30 i am at 87% of battery. Only thing i made was checking email, watching perhaps 5 minutes video on FB, all on wifi (strong signal).

Wonder at which time i should start to be concerned about perhaps a “bad” battery? I know i can rely on service, but i want to troubleshoot every possible path before.
