Facebook Portal use

When using a Facebook portal to make FaceTime calls, is it possible without my my granddaughter (9yrs) having an active Facebook account? Her parents do not want her on Facebook.

Facebook uses facebook messenger to make video calls.

You use facetime to facetime your granddaughter, if she has an Apple device and facetime activated.

I know these facts.

I need to know if I can purchase a Facebook portal device for my granddaughter….Without her having a Facebook account because her parents will not let her have a Facebook account…or a cell phone.

Someone told me that she could create a Facebook account (for the portal device) thereby activating Messenger which is needed for FaceTime calls on a Facebook portal device. Then to cancel or deactivate her FaceTime account which supposedly would still maintain her Messenger part. I Don’t know HOW to accomplish this tho….
