My expired credit card was charged an invalid subscription that didn’t go throw. But now apple has stupidly locked the credit card so I can’t cancel it. What do I do?

Apple cannot lock credit cards in any way. They have no control over credit cards at all, except for the Apple Card.

Do you perhaps mean they disabled your Apple ID account? If so, this is by design, if a charge is attempted to be made, but cannot complete successfully, it will disable your Apple ID, until it can complete successfully and as such prevent you from using the iTunes and App Store services until the issue is resolved.

If you only have one payment method added to your Apple ID, Apple will not let you remove the payment method if there is an active subscription or pending payment.

You will need to add a new payment method first, let the charge complete successfully, and then remove the expired credit card.

You can always request a refund after the charge has been allowed to complete.
