NFC failing after IOS update

I very much share the frustration with numerous other users

over the NFC function suddenly failing on their iPhones after an IOS update. A

quick Google search shows the numbers involved and the lack of effective response

from Apple.

My phone still works fine with Apple Pay, which I assume is

a two way communication thereby proving that the hardware isn’t at fault but it

no longer scans NFC tags which I use for the ‘Shortcuts’ option. I’ve tried

tags from various manufacturers and my own AirTag, all of with scan on the

other iPhone’s in my family (4) but can’t be read by my iPhone Pro Max IOS

16.4.1(a).

Please Apple, I’ve spent house fiddling with the settings,

reset Network Settings, reset iPhone etc… all to no avail. If there is a major

issue that can’t be resolved, please make it known and save us all some time.

I use NFC for my blood sugar sensor, and when I tried activating the new one I also saw this fails. I did a restart of my phone and now I could scan my sensor and all other nfc tag scanning is back to normal. Hope this helps someone.

No, I said in my first communication that I'm using the Apple 'Shortcuts' app... just tried again, it fails trying to create a new automation on the 'NFC tag' scan on my iPhone 12 Pro Max but worked on my wife's iPhone 11 using exactly the same procedure with the same Apple Airtag. I regularly use Apple Pay, thats works perfectly.

I did download NFC Tools from the App Store yesterday to see if that would scan but it failed too.

Which app are you using for NFC?

Probably you are using third-party apps and a third-party device.
