Subject line in texts

Has anyone resolved the issue of the phantom subject line/(no subject) notation appearing on recipient texts, even though the "show subject line" feature has been toggled off (multiple times) on iPhones and iPads ? This is a fairly recent phenomenon for me -- a couple months. I see nothing online so far that explains how to get back to just a plain message format. It looks like that is what I have on my screen but recipients (granted, these are mixed android and iOS users) still see (no subject), even with that feature turned off on my end. I am using an iPad Pro and iPhone 14 pro max, all with current updates. Very aggravating.
