Contact App needs help. Any Fixes appreciated

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

In my experience with the Contacts app, which is loooooong, I have never had issues like these. I create new contacts, edit them, add them to and remove them from groups, etc. on my Mac and my devices without a problem.

You say this has been going on for years, and I see by your signature that you are running OS 13 Ventura, so i assume you have had these problems over at least two generations of macOS, yes?

Have you experienced these same issues on different Macs?

I wonder, might there be some sort of data corruption in any of your contacts info that is the source of the problem? 🤔

I would suggest that you reinstall macOS to get a fresh copy of the Contacts app into your computer. Not sure if that would help, though, considering your long hx with the problem. But it may be worth a shot.
