Disappearing Cursor in Pages

the cursor simply disappears consistently during any type of text writing, as well as when clicking on graphics the selection does not stay. I am constantly re-clicking the mouse to activate the cursor to type or to select something on the page. I have shut off the "shake mouse pointer to locate" and have restarted Pages to no avail. any help will be appreciated.

I have had this on and off. Seems to happen more often in really long documents. I seemed to have found a quick fix by going into the settings where oddly I just deleted a few "ignored words" in the ABC autocorrection and then came back to the document and my cursor was back so I could see where I was in the document again. Hope that helps!

rsregal writes, in response to VikingOSX: "thanks but you missed it completely. what you are saying does not help - Pages cursor literally disappears during typing and object selecting - intermittent and consistently."

My experience closely matches Viking's description. When entering text using the keyboard, the Insertion Point (Apple's term for this marker) moves ahead with each keystroke to indicate the location where the next typed character will be inserted in the text. If the insertion point is not visible on the page, pressing a key will not cause a letter (or other character) to appear on the document.

If the mouse pointer is in a space containing text, the pointer will be visible as a barred I token, similar to the constructed example below, showing where the Insertion point will be placed if the mouse is clicked (or the Track Pad is tapped or clicked).

The mouse pointer is also visible as an arrow if the mouse (or the finger on the move to a non-text area.

What version of Pages are you using?

What version of MacOS?

Details may help someone come up with a solution.

Barry

The cursor will continue to blink in the body text of a Pages v13 document until you insert, or click on an inserted object, or redirect pointer focus outside of Pages to the Finder or another application.

There is no cursor memory to return you to the orginal document cursor location once you click outside of an object (.e.g. image, text box, etc) nor will any cursor appear until you do click somewhere in the body text again.

How on earth did you find this!!!???? Well done and thank you. I had no auto correction words I wanted to delete so I just added one in then deleted it straight away. Then upon returning to Pages, the problem had magically disappeared, and the text type cursor magically reappeared. The next time I can't figure out how something is going wrong, I plan on patting myself on the head three times, and hop on one leg saying "nothing is real - WillyBobarino is the man" until the problem goes away. I'm now quite hopeful it may just fix anything that goes awry in life. Thanks again Willy.
