Apple TV works fine on my iPhone just wont play on my TV

I have a Sony Bravia 4k TV. I recently got a subscription to Apple TV+. I downloaded the app on my TV and signed in. But everything i try to watch just buffers constantly. Everything is unwatchable. I have no other issues with any other streaming service. Netflix premium with 4k videos. Youtube. And Amazon Prime. All work perfectly fine. Apple TV works on my Samsung Galaxy phone just fine. Its just my TV thats having the issue. I even tried an Ethernet cable just to see if it was somehow the app having issues with my wifi. But still nothing. Whats the deal? Anyone had this issue and figured out a fix?

Updating the tv’s software solved this issue for me! Be sure to cycle your tv fully after the update. I “updated” the software and tried the app again and it did nothing to solve the buffering. Finally gave up and turned the tv off. Upon doing so it went through a long update cycle. Once it was actually done with the update I figured I’d check. I booted up the app, no buffering what so ever!

Ok, so I finally got to an answer from Sony and got this to work.

Here's the scoop - this is all due to APPLE's refusal to respect privacy.

In the Sony TV setup, I was asked questions regarding privacy like "Do I want to participate in targeted marketing" and "Do I want to accept Performance metrics being sent to Sony". I had marked all of these to NO. I want my privacy thank you very much.

Now, EVERY single other streaming app (Amazon, Disney+, Netflix, etc) all work without issue. However the Apple TV app REQUIRES to you to have to have these options turned on.

APPLE get your act together. It's ridiculous that your invasion of my privacy is REQUIRED for my paid service to work. No I do not want to share data with you.

I'll be getting rid of your app and your streaming service. No thanks

Greetings Justaguy_7,

A couple things we’re going to recommend -

1. Be sure the latest software and/or firmware versions are installed for your television. You may need to refer to the manufacturer or manual for steps on how to do that.

2. Uninstall and reinstall the Apple TV. Again, the how to on deleting the app would come from the manufacturer.

3. Reset the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app Get the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on your smart TV or streaming device

Reset the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app

Resetting the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app removes your personal information and restores the app to its original settings. If you plan to sell or give away your device, or uninstall the app, you might want to reset it first.

1. Open the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Choose the Reset option.
If you lost or can't access your device but are still signed in to the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app, remove the device from your Apple ID device list.

If you reset the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on a smart TV that's also signed in to the Apple Music app, the Apple Music app restores to its original settings.

Thanks.

I bought an Apple 4k TV box last week. My first ever Apple product. I spent 3.5 hours with Apple support who failed to help me get an Apple id. I resolved it myself eventually. I won't bore you with details, and then, the bufferring and picture quality was like watching black and white TV from the sixties......never, never, never.....again....just so poor.....git my money back.....DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
