An iPad 9 supports the first generation Apple Pencil - this being paired and charged via the iPad’s Lightning connector.


An Apple Smart Keyboard for iPad9 can be used along with an Apple Pencil - however, the Smart Keyboard does not have any storage or attachment-point for an Apple Pencil. There are third-party pencil cases available, but these are not designed to attach to the keyboard.
