Samsung SSD T7 4TB Shield Slow When editing

I am editing 4K footage on premiere pro with plenty of space on the hard drive, both on the Samsung shield and the laptop. I have to wait a few seconds to see an image on the program monitor after I move the playhead over a clip. Then after it shows an image and I hit play, it's choppy and goes blank when it plays on to the next clip.

What can I do?????

From the App Store, download Amorphousdiskmark or Black Magic Speed test. These will tell you at what speed your T7 is operating. Ours show about 990-1000 MBps on USB-C ports and about half that on USB-A.

Keep in mind, your T7 is listed at a max of "up to 1000 MBps" so you're never goin g to get speeds even close to the internal drive's.

Please run the third party app EtreCheck & post the report here so we can get some details about your Mac's configuration & setup as well as some performance metrics and summaries of the system logs...all of which may provide some important clues.
