Phone screen broken
The phone was taken to the official service and they said that the screen would be replaced and it would last about a month! Has anyone encountered this?

You may have interpreted it wrongly. They may have said you will have a warranty for 30 Days.
When I replaced the Battery of my Mac in India through an Apple Authorised service center they said the warranty is for 90 days. That does not mean it will last for 90 days.
