My Apple Magic Trackpad Won't Connect

This morning my Magic Trackpad won't connect to my Mac. I'm running OSX Ventura 13.4, the latest version.

Bluetooth sees the device but it won't connect. I actually dug out a second trackpad from my closet and tried it as well. Both devices failed to connect so I am assuming this is a software problem with OSX.

Here's what I've done to resolve this problem, without success:

  • I turned bluetooth on and off
  • I've turned the trackpad on and off
  • I've plugged the trackpad into the mac using a lightning cable
  • I've restarted my mac

Nothing worked.

Please advise if you have any ideas how to resolve this problem. It's super annoying and my MacBook is no longer usable when connected to my monitor and trackpad.

Thanks!

As I said, I tried these things and they didn’t work.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

a  reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
