Apple Watch Ultra stops charging when at 75%

My Apple Watch Ultra recently stopped charging once it hits 75%. This is a recent issue (two days now) and I have not changed any settings.

The Ultra watch has a new battery management system, called Optimized Charge Limit. When you start wearing the Ultra watch, the watch tracks your usage over the first 30 days, then based on how you use your watch, limits the charge to a level which can range from the mid 70% range up to 80%. It uses machine learning to charge your battery to the right level for your needs. Optimized Charge Limit changes dynamically depending on how you use your Apple Watch Ultra. Based on your usage patterns, your watch might charge to 100% on some days, and less on others.

It takes some getting use to, but your watch is doing what it was designed to do. You can turn it off if you'd prefer your watch to be charged to 100% when you get up. I would recommend not doing that as you spent a lot of $$ on this watch, and using the Charge Limit will extend the life of the battery.

Same issue here. Happened right after I did the update. I can leave it on the charger for 24 hours. No matter what, won’t budge past 75%. Yes I turned the setting off. It wasn’t even on “optimized battery charging” this watch cost 1,000 dollars not counting the strap I have. I’m ready to throw it through someone’s head at Apple. Yes that’s a threat.

Is your Watch on Optimized Charging? Optimized charging is designed to help conserve battery health and battery life as much as possible. If you have Optimized Charging turned on, your Watch will charge to near 80% and then shut off. If you want full charge 100%, you’ll need to turn off Optimized Charging for your Watch.

Please review the information in the Apple Support article I linked below.

You’ve got several troubleshooting steps. The first is to turn the Optimized Charging On, momentarily turn it off and then back on or vice versa. Sometimes software can glitch on the movement of buttons.

If that doesn’t work, do a forced restart. This is more than just turning Apple Watch off and make on. It can reset several systems. Please review Apple Support article below and follow the steps or you’re just turning Watch off and on and not resetting anything.

Lastly, if none of the above has worked, unpair your Apple Watch, force restart both Apple Watch and iPhone and the pair the devices again.

Apple does not read this user-to-user technical support forum for feedback.

Threats to your fellow Apple Watch users is meaningless, as your fellow users do not have the ability to make the changes you seem to desire. And as it is your money, you are welcome to spend it in anyway you choose.
