How do I redeem Apple TV digital movie code without installing itunes or apple software? Why can't I redeem through the browser

You can’t view digital movies from the iTunes Store on the web anyway, so you probably need the iTunes application for playback on a computer too. Redeem digital copies of DVDs or Blu-rays in the Apple TV app or iTunes for Windows - Apple Support. These listed options are the redeem options available: iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC with iTunes. As this is a user-to-user community, no one here can answer the “why” questions. It is how Apple chose to manage this.
