iPhone "Focus" disturbs me

No, I don't have iPhone Personal Focus set up AT ALL. It's ALL OFF. But every week or so, my iPhone sends a notification asking me if I want to set up my Personal Focus. Is there a setting to make Focus not disturb me in this way? This is kinda nuts. There are lots of things my iPhone COULD be asking me if I want to turn on. But Apple seems to very much want me to use Focus.

Do Not Disturb setup has been made much more flexible, but this has come at the cost of much more complication. To get it working again, do these steps ONCE:

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Focus
  • Tap on any Focus settings that you will never use (such as Personal) and remove them (you can add them back later if you change your mind, and even create new, custom ones)
  • Tap Do Not Disturb
  • Tap People
  • Tap Allow Notifications From
  • If anyone is listed who should not call you when DND is on delete them; if you don’t want any calls from anyone, any time, delete all people
  • Tap the dropdown next to Allow Calls From and choose Allowed People Only
  • Optionally, tap on Apps, then Allow Notifications From and don’t add any apps.

All of the above is a one-time setup. After that, turn DND on or off with the Control Center Focus button. You can optionally set one or more schedules by going to:

Settings/Focus/Do Not Disturb/Set a Schedule.

Hey Dannymac22,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We hope the information below helps.

If you haven't yet restarted the iPhone, we recommend starting with that. Restarts have been known to resolve some software related concerns. To restart, follow the steps below or here: Restart your iPhone.

1. Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Also, make sure the iPhone software is up-to-date by following the steps below: Update your iPhone or iPad.

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If issue persists, double-check the Focus that are set up to ensure there isn't a Personal one. If you continue to get the notification/alert, we recommend contacting Apple support here: Get Support. They will be able to further assist towards a resolution.

Take care.
