Movie file to large for DVD disc
Have 90 minute movie as a 7.7GB .cdr file that I want to burn to DVD. Message says it's too large. Is there another format I can use so DVD plays on a regular DVD player?

You cannot just take any movie file - regardless of size - burn it to a DVD disc and expect it to play in a DVD player.
The disc has to be authored in a proper format to be recognized by DVD players.
Using an appropriate program to make the disc it will convert it appropriately - and also compress it.
But bear in mind that DVD are old school, and if your video is, for example in HD format, the end quality of the DVD will be much lower than your original.
You will probably be better off making a .mov or .mp4 movie file and putting it in a thumb drive. Most modern TV can play these in their original quality.

There are dual layer DVDs that have about 8GB of storage.
Do you know what format is on the cdr? Is it a DVD movie format, a data format?
I make movies all the time and use Roxio Toast to burn either as HD or Blu-Ray quality using Blu-Ray discs. When I play back on my 65" 4K TV they are very sharp. The Blu-Ray disc can handle a 25GB file.
