So do not have the complete technical details, but it is not happening to all . I have seen people with Jio sims with 5G working fine after ios 16.6 update on iphone 14 model.
I can definitely say this is caused by software update since, the same Jio Sim was working (5G) with iOS 16.5 but with iOS 16.6 only LTE was enabled.
This could be due to updated security or removal of certain SIM support parameters which disabled 5G. But with new SIM card 5G works again.
The only backdrop is that , Rs 50 was charged by Jio without any explanation of what the actual problem is neither from Apple nor from Jio.
Just go to nearest Jio centre…they will delete the existing esim and install it again then it will work fine…
got a new sim of same number and 5g started working again.

I found a solution of this problem
i use my physical jio sim in android 5g handset
and than using hotspot of jio 5g
over one hour
after re insert this sim in my iphone 5g working for me
ios 16.6
You may have a damaged SIM. Please contact the Cellular Service provider as the message says.
Just remove and re insert the sim again. Worked for me!!
Hey Guys, I had the same problem after ios update. So I changed the SIM today and it got automatically fixed in 10 mins. Do that :)
Bruh just go to jio store I mean not reliance digital go to jio store okay there ask for sim replacement or sim swap they will do that it costs 50/- it will activate in 5 to 10 min if that doesn’t work do the same thing again the next day same sim swap it will work for sure I did it believe me and thank me later if it workes for u too I’m pretty sure it will work except this don’t try any other things anyways nothing will work
Follow the instructions that have appeared on your screen related to the SIM card in your iPhone.
Your current SIM does not support 5G. Contact your network provider for more

no its not software problem just go to jio care and tell them u lost your sim i want renew sim on that same sim and in 1 hour it will b working like it was before
Why do I need to do that, Jio Sim was working fine with 5G enabled till 16.6 update was installed on my phone. The SIM Card did not change and what changed is the software i.e. changes over 16.5.
Hence this update, to iOS 16.6 caused the issue. Jio Network should come out with an official statement if SIM card needs to be replaced. The problem is , 16.6 works fine on iphone 14 with Jio Sim, and 5G services are working too.
Also, for some people , Reset Network settings is resolving the issue, but for me none of the given solutions over different blogs are working.
Going to Jio Shop is the last resort, I am baffaled people are accepting this solution :(
I have iphone 14 pro max and till ios 16.5 , my Jio physical sim was enabled with 5G and I was able to get 5G services. But after ios 16.6 update, I see that my SIM card does not support 5G.
What needs to be done here. This looks to be a software issue to me.
Bro then what to do next ? How to resolve this issue ? If it is a JIO problem then all JIO SIM's should have the same result but I don't see that happening. I mean just a week ago everything was working properly fine on iOS 16.5 :(
Do you know any official channel to raise a complaint or a support request? I could not find a relatable option in Apple Support.
