iPhone 14 Pro Max hash key not recognised by bank’s two factor authentication telephone call

My bank does a phone call for two factor authentication and I have to press hash to to confirm I’m expecting the call, but they don’t recognise the hash key on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, so I fail authentication. I haven’t had this issue with my previous iPhone 8 (with same carrier, Three Mobile) but then the bank has altered its process since I was using that. Bank initially said it was their issue, now they say it’s the carrier but I’m not convinced. I still think it’s probably the bank at fault but before I take that further or go to the carrier, is it possibly a 14 Pro Max issue? Anyone else with this problem? Anybody know a fix for this which doesn’t involve the bank or the carrier? I’m on iOS 16.5 but this also happened with earlier iOS version. Replies gratefully received.

Thanks for replying! I was wondering about the iOS.

And I have seen other people have had similar problems with the 13.

However, my update now is this: it’s actually working. I fired up my old iPhone 8 to see if that would work and in so doing had to transfer my SIM to that phone. I did not actually then use it to sign into bank with a call because the bank sent a text instead this time (no choice — just what it did, never happened before). However I then transferred SIM back to 14 Pro Max and, lo and behold, when I had to do a phone call authentication again, the hash key WAS recognised.

That is the first time in about 2 months and 20+ attempts this has worked. It didn’t work this morning. It works now.

Conclusion: either just today, by coincidence, the bank has finally corrected their software or my carrier Three has corrected something, or the act of removing and reinserting my SIM has reset something so it now works.

Hope this offers something else useful to try for others in the same predicament. I have seen on another forum that some people have removed their accounts from this bank because of this problem.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply! :)
