Need Help to Disable Autoplay

I feel like I'm losing my mind! It appears I am the only one in history who has this problem:

I cannot disable autoplay on Music for MacBook Pro.

The laptop is running Ventura 13.4.

I follow every guide; the infinity symbol is perpetually greyed out, even if I click on it. No matter what I do, the app keeps adding music to autoplay every time I play a song. I'm running lights and sound for a choir concert tomorrow night and really need the music to stop between each track for when I can't be at the computer at the end of a song. I know I can clear the queue, but it's so annoying to do that for EVERY single song I hit play on.

Why can't I just play one song at a time??

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities fisli,

The Autoplay icon may appear grayed out, if you're not currently subscribed to Apple Music.

If you are a subscriber, you'll need to be actively playing a song to access the Playing Next queue and the options found there: Use the Playing Next queue in Music on Mac

That being said, the following steps can help you increase the amount of time songs fade out at the end, which may be helpful:

1: In the Music app  on your Mac, choose Music > Settings, then click Playback.
2: Select Crossfade Songs.
3: To change the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in, drag the Seconds slider.

Cheers!
