That is a syncing problem with the server. If they have a webmail interface see how well that syncs. Do you have any problems sending mail from either device? The syncing function uses the outgoing mail server. But the problem is with the server.

What is the part of your email address after the @ in your address? For example, @icloud is your Apple hosted address. @gmail is gmail; @yahoo, @aol, etc. If you set up email in Settings/Mail/Accounts you just enter your email address during setup and it will usually set up automagically.

Connect both to the same e-mail account. You want a type of connection where the master copies of the e-mail remain on the server (e.g., IMAP as opposed to POP).

I’ve got a personal email address as in mickey@mickeymouse.co.uk. Looking at settings/mail/accounts on both iPhone and iPad they are identical.
I get the same emails on both but any deleting or moving does not happen across both devices.
The answer to this depends completely on your email service provider and the type of email (IMAP, POP).
For example, iCloud email would always sync immediately.
Email never syncs device to device; instead, email syncs to your mail provider's server. So if both devices are logged in to the same email provider they will sync automatically.
You’re going to regret getting involved with me but …. how do I find out who my email providers are on each device? Thanks.
And whether emails have been read or not.
Thank you Lawrence! The server is my husband’s but he’s an Android user so doesn’t understand Apple products. I’ll get on to him tonight🤞
OOPS – Just noticed that I replied to an old post because someone "bumped" the thread.
