Is there a way to turn on the speakerphone and then access voicemail? This is an iPhone 12, running iOS 16.5.
This will let me hear the instructions and voicemail messages. Android can do this.
When not on speakerphone, the volume is too quiet for me to hear comfortably.

With the standard phone app, there is no speaker icon until you have placed a call. And the icon is not present on the "call voicemail" screen.
Then you don't have Visual voicemail, it isn't an app, something that is provided by your phone carrier.
Contact them about Visual Voicemail and how to enable speaker before playing your voicemail.

yes with visual voicemail, you click on the speaker icon and then hit play.
