Is this email I received offering free iCloud stroage phishing?

I recived the following email offering free data storage but asking for credit card informations. Note that the mail was sent on my Apple account but in the message is shown a fake address (never had such kind of address)

If the email address does not end with “@apple.com” and does not say ‘Digitally Certified’ in Mail, it is a phishing attempt.


Please forward the email to reportphishing@apple.com to report it, and don’t click on any links in the email. :)

Technically, it doesn't sound like phishing. It sounds like more of standard credit card scam.


Don't you think it is funny how we are the most policed and surveilled society in the world and yet we are inundated with criminal activity on the internet? Internet tracking is now so sophisticated that they can now detect hidden cancer based on our online behaviour. But they can't catch people openly running criminal scams?
