Delete ALL Render Files.
Delete ALL Optimized and Proxy Media.
Go to Preferences->Playback and turn OFF "Background Render".
Go to Preferences->Import and uncheck all the options for transcoding on import.
The keyword here is "Generated". These are files that FCP itself creates, and it can create them again later if needed, so nothing gets lost by doing this. Furthermore, these files are almost never needed, anyways, and they are clogging up your drive. Don't worry.
Note: an optimized media file is often ten times the size of the original. In the rare cases that they are needed, the people who needed already know that. Try to work with original media if you can, and you can...
I strongly recommend these two free video tutorials, by two great teachers.
They will help you get more familiar with the application and will help you avoid many potential pitfalls.

Thanks a lot for coming to help!
What will happen when delete Generated Library Files? Will that affect my project?
Will the library still have the locations of all clips on the timeline?
By the way, turned off playback background rendering. None options on import was checked.
