Hello,

Apple or McAfee will never contact you in this way, it is definitely a scam. You can safely ignore these messages. Learn more about these scams here: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.

Are those notices appearing in the upper right corner of your display?

Those are Safari Notifications. Stop them by following these instructions.

  • Go to Safari's Preferences (or Settings) menu > Websites > Notifications, and remove everything there.

Refer to Customize website notifications in Safari on Mac - Apple Support.

For reference: Change Websites settings in Safari on Mac - Apple Support. Deselect "Allow websites to ask for permission to send notifications" and you will never again be harassed with such an annoying HTML "feature".
