Virus in the Browser of my MacBook Air

A message with the Safari logo telling me that I have a 13 virus in my Browser from "bolingor.co.in" comes up on top right hand of the screen. If I hover the mouse over it the screen then goes to a full screen asking me to use McAffee Total Security. Is that OK or is it part of the scam?

Sounds like part of the scam.

Here's how to block Web notifications if you are using Safari.

If you use other browsers – on the Mac, on Windows, even on a ChromeBook – block them there, too. The controls will be a little different for each browser, but the idea is the same.
