Unable to remove a favorite in maps

I had the same issue. I thought it wouldn’t go away because I deleted the work address card, but in trying to edit it in maps, it showed that the information was in my contact card “work” information. I deleted it off my card and then in maps, the favorite I could delete. 👍🏻

I couldn’t delete work favorite either & was kind of annoying but I figured it out. In my case I looked at my own contact on phone list & had to remove work info there first then it let me remove the favorite in maps.

These favorites are seri suggestions. Go to preferences Siri, ask to not suggest locations under the map apps. Open map app. Close map app. Next time you open it they are gone.

Update your iPhone:

iOS 16.5 is the latest available update for you iPhone model. So perform an update, seeing if this restriction goes away.

Update Using a Computer:

Have a Computer Handy? If so, try using a computer to update. Go here: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. If any updates are available, they will install, sure enough.

Edit a favorite

1. On the search card, tap More above the row of favorites.
2. Tap  next to the favorite.
3. Depending on the location, you may be able to make the following changes:

• • Rename the favorite: Double-tap the Label field, then enter a new name.
  • Change the address: Tap Contact Card, then make your changes.
  • Delete the location from your favorites list: Tap Remove Favorite.
  • Tell someone your ETA: Tap Add Person, then choose one or more suggested contacts, or search for a contact. Whenever you start turn-by-turn navigation to this location, the person automatically receives a notification about your estimated time of arrival (ETA). See Share your estimated time of arrival (ETA) in Maps on iPhone.

1. Tap Done.

I have the same problem. I believe that my old "starred" favorites come from older versions of maps on which you gave a favorite a red heart. All my favorites that I can't delete are from the time when I had red hearts as favorites.
