Duel Sim/Two Number

Just picked up an Ultra (UK) and my phone is on Virgin which doesn’t support cellar data on the Watch. So, although I can pair my watch with my phone I can’t add my phone number to my watch.

However, my iPad is with o2 and allowed me to add a watch plan to use the cellar function.

I want my watch to mirror my phone, but also want to use the data plan to use the cellar functionally of the watch - how do I go about this?

If you put the O2 SIM in the phone permanently and it is configured for phone use then O2 can possibly add a Watch additional eSIM plan for the Watch for about 7 quid a month.

Once that SIM goes back in the ipad the Watch cannot use it.

The watch and the iphone need to be with the same provider all the time.

Out of interest I understand Virgin recently went from Vodafone to O2 as their piggyback network, but I was wondering if they would issue a new SIM and if it would still be branded Virgin. I expected it to be the same SIM but swap network overnight. Seems not.

Sorry, I’ll try and be a bit more specific.

I have an o2 SIM. It was a replacement one for my Virgin SIM when they switch to o2. However, it’s for my iPad. It works in my phone and I get a signal, can make calls and use data. And it’s pairs with my watch fine.

Ive set my watch up and it’s working fine - however when I remove the sim from my phone and put it back into my iPad (or even just remove it) the watch loses its cellular connection totally. I’ve even put the sim into another iPhone and it works in that - but will not connect my watch.

Im fine with the set up, I’ve been using a regular Apple Watch with no cellular since launch. However, I want to see if I can use the data. I’ve been told by o2 there is a way to do this by adding the new o2 sim to my iPhone as an eSIM but this also doesn’t seem to work.
